AJT Engineering Strengthens Global Partnerships During Scotland Week 2026 in Abu Dhabi

AJT Engineering’s recent visit to Abu Dhabi marked an important milestone in our ambition to expand the deployment of our C‑Dart mooring technology across the Middle East. We were one of seven Scottish businesses invited to take part in Scotland Week 2026: Energy Transition Activation. We met directly with industrial leaders, innovation partners and senior government representatives at the impressive KEZAD HQ within AD Ports. The setting highlighted Scotland’s role in the global energy transition and showed how AJT is making its mark in international marine engineering.

Showcasing Scotland’s Engineering Capability on the Global Stage

The two‑day programme brought together some of Scotland’s most forward‑looking businesses with key players across the UAE in energy, maritime, logistics and tech. It was a full‑on agenda — panel sessions, pitching, tours of the innovation ecosystem, and plenty of straight‑talking conversations with the people driving economic decisions in Abu Dhabi.

Day 1: Pitch Sessions & KEZAD/AD Ports Industrial Tour

We kicked off with the Scottish Companies Pitch Session, where we presented AJT’s engineering capability and demonstrating how the C‑Dart mooring system can support the UAE’s rapidly expanding offshore, coastal and aquaculture sectors. The conversations that followed with UAE stakeholders highlighted the scalability, durability and environmental benefits of our mooring solution.

In the afternoon, we toured KEZAD and Abu Dhabi Ports. Seeing the scale of KEZAD first‑hand, 12 economic zones, 550 km², over 2,000 companies, really brought home the scale of opportunity. With multimodal transport links and serious industrial infrastructure, it’s the kind of place where future fabrication or assembly operations could genuinely make sense for us.

Day 2: Masdar City, ADGM & Hub71 Innovation Ecosystem

The second day was all about the innovation and investment landscape that companies need to understand if they’re serious about scaling in the UAE. We started with a guided tour of Masdar City before heading over to Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) for a series of business engagement sessions.

One of the real highlights was Hub71. It’s an impressive setup, a global tech ecosystem supporting more than 390 startups across 24 sectors, from climate tech to mobility, logistics and industrial innovation. The tour and presentations gave us a clear sense of the investment incentives, market‑entry support and partnership opportunities available to help accelerate technology adoption across the region.

Energy Transition Momentum Across the Middle East

The UAE is significantly expanding its investment into renewable energy, industrial decarbonisation and maritime infrastructure. From traditional Oil and Gas to Renewable technologies to coastal development and aquaculture, the region is scaling up fast and aligning with global sustainability goals.

AJT Engineering is well placed to support this growth. Our C‑Dart mooring system offers:

·         rapid deployment with minimal seabed disruption

·         long-term operational durability

·         suitability for offshore oil and gas, marine, port, renewable, aquaculture and coastal infrastructure

·         efficient installation for both temporary and permanent moorings

The insights gained during site tours and stakeholder meetings confirmed that the Middle East, Abu Dhabi in particular, represents a major opportunity for C‑Dart deployment and potential localisation of manufacturing.

Strengthening Ties at the Ambassador’s Residence

The programme wrapped up with Scotland on the International Stage: The Role of Global Partnerships, held on 29 January 2026 at the residence of His Majesty’s Ambassador to the UAE.

It was a high‑profile evening bringing together alumni, policymakers, business leaders and Scottish Government representatives. The event included:

·         opening remarks from His Majesty’s Ambassador, Edward Hobart CMG

·         a chat with Kate Forbes, Deputy First Minister of Scotland

·         contributions from senior leaders across Scottish Enterprise and the UAE

·         a networking reception fostering bilateral collaboration

Speaking with Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes provided a valuable platform to discuss Scotland’s engineering strengths and to reinforce AJT’s commitment to advancing international partnerships that enable sustainable industrial growth.

Aligning AJT Engineering with the UAE’s Vision

Our participation in Scotland Week 2026 reaffirmed three clear takeaways:

1. The region is ready for c‑dart

The UAE’s rapid investment in renewable energy and coastal infrastructure makes it an ideal environment for advanced mooring solutions.

2. Industrial ecosystems like KEZAD offer real potential for localisation

With duty-free GCC movement, competitive utilities, and vast logistics, it has compelling advantages for future fabrication or regional operations.

3. Scotland–UAE Collaboration Is Growing Stronger

The level of engagement from both sides shows a genuine appetite for long‑term industrial, cultural and economic partnerships.

Looking Forward

AJT Engineering’s engagement in Abu Dhabi has opened new pathways for partnerships, expansion and innovation in one of the world’s fastest-growing industrial and renewable markets. As we continue to build on the connections made during Scotland Week 2026, we remain committed to delivering engineering excellence rooted in Scotland and deployed globally.
