Job Title: Stores & Logistics Controller

Job Purpose

The main purpose of this job role is to control the movements of goods and manage the storage of goods within the facility, using companies MRP management database. These goods can vary from free issue, in process AJT specific products, purchased items and internal movements of materials/products.

You will also be responsible for liaising with AJT Tullos facility to schedule logistical requirements for parts moving between plants and also to sub con vendors to meet operational requirements and to ensure that all relevant systems and records are accurately maintained.

Main Responsibilities

  • To ensure that all materials and equipment received has all of its required documentation and is fully recorded on our systems.
  •  To ensure that all materials and equipment dispatched includes all required documentation  and is signed for and fully recorded on our systems.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy working environment
  • To prepare work for despatch ensuring that it is adequately packaged for transit.
  • To ensure all work is safely secured for transit
  • To collect materials and equipment from vendors, customers and sub-contractors as per instruction, ensuring that paperwork is controlled in accordance to procedures
  • To operate forklift trucks and overhead crane as part of loading, offloading of materials and equipment and internal distribution of materials and equipment
  • To ensure all work is undertaken in a safe manner
  • To ensure regular communication with Purchasing and Operations to advise on relevant material movements or stock control issues.
  • Assist in the review of customer stock requirements related to the relevant product or refurbishment work to resolve any issues that differ from those previously expressed, and to ensure that the Company has the ability to meet the defined requirements.
  • Monitor the progress of sub contacted purchase orders to ensure on-time completion and optimum financial control on all designated tasks.
  • Review and control free issue goods to ensure there are sufficient levels available prior to test and assembly starts
  • Advise the projects teams of shortfalls in receipt of free issue parts and also in the event of stocks being allocated to alternative projects
  • To optimise Company expenditure by efficient stock control values.
  • Liaise with AJT staff to ensure the timely expedition in the movement of stocks and purchased materials and services
  • To ensure that materials received are in good condition and as per the purchase order
  • To ensure that the stock control system is maintained and accurate
  • To ensure that materials are stored and controlled as per procedures.
  • Monthly reconciliation of stock with relevant AJT personnel.
  • To ensure adequate control on non-work order related purchases.
  • Carry out any other reasonable task as requested by Management

Recruitment Specification

Skills and Abilities

  • Must have an understanding of the operation of an engineering facility
  • Must have the ability to read engineering drawings/ specifications
  • Must have excellent numeracy skills
  • Must have a responsible attitude
  • Must have an understanding of computer systems, production plans including the use of spread sheets and word documents
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Experience in use of a Fork Lift is preferred but not essential as full training will be given
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate with all levels of operations, from clients, suppliers and employees
  • You must be able to cultivate good working relationships with internal and external teams

Knowledge & Experience

  • Must have experience of working in a stores related position
  • Experience with working in logistics environment
  • To have a working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and QHSAS 18001

  • You must have the ability to deal with sensitive information in a confidential manner

Health & Safety

  • You have a personal responsibility for taking care of yourself and others and must comply with all relevant Health & Safety legislation
  • You must undertake any H&S relevant to the post
